Happy New Year!! Another year has come and gone.

Last night Dave and I decided to attend a small gathering at a friend’s house just a couple blocks away. We had also entertained going to a larger party with friends up the hill by the Mesa, or the hotel party, but decided we didn’t want to travel as far as the larger party, and the hotel party was already sold out (and of course, I wasn’t entirely convinced I wanted to go anyway).

There wound up being like 12 or so of us, and we ate appetizers and hung out until midnight. The people hosting the party don’t have cable TV, so we weren’t able to watch any sort of New Year’s programming with the ball drop, so we just counted down and then toasted with some champagne and set off all the poppers that they had lying around and made a lot of noise.

This morning, several of us met for breakfast at Tupelo Junction, which is a nice way to start off the new year. I was glad to hear that they were open today, since a lot of local places (such as Cajun Kitchen) are closed on New Year’s Day.

I think the rest of today is going to be a lazy day, as we enjoy our long holiday weekend.

Here’s hoping 2010 is the best year yet!
