So Many Fires
Wow, I can’t believe how many fires have erupted in SoCal over the weekend. Tons of areas evacuated, and lots of homes lost. And to think, I was just down there. It’s probably going to take awhile to get all these fires under control—their sheer number and the lack of any real rainfall for the most part is baaad news.
Take a look at this Google map, made to show the locations of the fires. If you click on them, you can read updates on them.
One of the fires is up in Santa Maria, but for now, that’s far enough away from SB. Though, the Zaca fire started above Buellton, and that one got a little too close for comfort…

Looks like the fire to the north of us is now contained, but there are still plenty burning down south. The air here is bad enough to have an advisory issued, but I can’t even imagine how gross the air must be down in SD—they’ve cancelled school and I think lots of businesses have told people not to come.
This map gives a good overview of all the fires, from SD up to SB.
Have all these southern California fires made the news over there?
2 | Posted by: JenniferI’m glad to hear you are in a safe area. I have 2 friends who had to evacuate. I can’t imagine how scary that must be :(
3 | Posted by: Colleen on October 23, 2007 @ 9:57 PMYikes, that MUST be scary…I’ve never had to evacuate for anything before, and I hope I never do. Are your friends in SD then? Or one of the other fires? There are so many… :(
