Giving in to the Hype

Perhaps in an effort to be trendy, I am now reading (or rather listening via audiobook) to the latest and final Harry Potter book. Being that the book is quite long and that I am prone to spacing out and setting a book aside, I prefer listening to the audio version. Not to mention, I get a kick out of hearing the narrator do all the voices—especially the female ones, like Hermione.

Also, I want to make sure that I finish the book before people start posting spoilers unintentionally. Like, the last book, I managed to avoid the big spoiler up until right before I listened to the book. The spoiler was posted on a knitting site, of all places, so I wasn’t expecting to stumble across it. But there, right at the beginning of a post that was completely unrelated to Harry Potter, the person wrote “I can’t believe ____ killed ____” And then I was like OMG. So upset. The person posted this maybe a month after the book came out, which given the length of the book, seems a bit early to just blurt that out without warning readers first.

So, that’s my justification.in listening to it right now, despite the fact that I haven’t finished my book club book yet. If I just keep listening though, I’ll be done in no time, so back to it!

i went to see if i could get it, and i could, but it seems even cheaper to order it, never thought it would be, so i’m deciding if i buy it or order it.

i think i’m going to have to avoid the internet if i want to avoid knowing what happens :p

lol mania? ;)

sister came over for the weekend and we got the books (one for each) around 1:30PM, we finished reading around 9:30PM

I’ve been a HP fan ever since book 3 came out, and I’ve been waiting for this book, ever since I read book 6

it’s a good read, though I am disappointed by some story archs (won’t give spoilers, and when I do, they will be hidden on my blog for now)

which audio version do you have, Jennifer? the uk or the usa one?

Yea, I got a late start to the series, I think listening to all of them one right after the other right before book 6 came out.

Thanks for no spoilers (and Ivette, I won’t give any out either!) I’ll have to see how I feel about the story arcs as well when it’s all said and done.

And, I’m listening to the US version, read by Jim Dale. It’s faster/easier to obtain, not to mention those are the versions I got for the previous books, and I’m used to his reading style. (Though I know many people express a preference for the Fry narration)
