Battle of the Craft Stores

Today I ran some errands like getting money from the ATM, returning and checking out books from the local library, and picking up some stuff I needed from the craft store to finish a project.

The last few times I've gotten something from a craft store, I've started at Michael's, and almost every time I've come up empty handed. For instance, did you know that they don't even sell zippers? And when they do sell stuff, it often seems like for the things I need, they don't have it in the size, color, style, or whatever that I am looking for. There have been exceptions of course, times when I did get what I needed, but it's been awhile. So, it's a good thing that there is a local store that sells the same type of stuff. Maybe one day I will get wise and head to this place first since it's a few miles closer. Of course, I'm sure that would ensure that the store wouldn't have what I needed and I'd have to do the same amount of driving anyway, just in a different order!

Oh well. :)

Hmm, while that may indeed be true, I have never been inside one, as they do not exist in California! Though even if they did, there's a good chance there wouldn't be one in SB--there are lots of things that aren't here, sadly.

For zippers specifically, you usually need to go to a fabric store, which I don't think exist between Ventura and Santa Maria. There is a quilting store, however, in Magnolia Center.

For other items, I'd check with Craft Essentials on Hollister by Las Positas.

Hehe I actually DID find zippers at Craft Essentials--it just seems weird that a place would sell some sewing notions but then not have zippers. I also found out that you can order zippers online, which is what I ended up doing, because Craft Essentials didn't have the color/length I needed.

Good to know about the quilting store though. Craft Essentials is the "other local store" I was actually referring to in this post, although they are over by Turnpike.
