Blades of Glory
Last night Ben and I went to dinner and then to go see Blades of Glory. Neither one of us had been to a movie in a theater in quite some time (though it’s been a bit longer for him). I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised how amused I was by the movie. I mean, it looked amusing, but I wasn’t sure if it would be consistently funny to watch throughout the duration, but I found myself entertained. All the other movies out seemed either crappy or too serious or I knew nothing about.
Tonight I was invited downtown but I once again declined because of my foot. It’s still all ugly and bruised (I’m beginning to think I may just have to accept that my foot is permanently greenish now) and I have this fear of going into a crowded bar/club and having people step on it, and that of course would hurt, because the top is still sore. And of course, no one ever steps on your feet unless you are wearing brand-new shoes, open-toed shoes, or have a foot injury. So, based on that, it’s pretty much a sure thing that I would regret going. Totally lame, it’s already been 2 weeks and I’m beginning to wonder if people will think that I’m just using it as an excuse not to go out. Well, I guess I could go out if it involved things other than crowded rooms and dance floors, but that’s usually the activity that is planned.

Battle of the Craft Stores
Today I ran some errands like getting money from the ATM, returning and checking out books from the local library, and picking up some stuff I needed from the craft store to finish a project.
The last few times I’ve gotten something from a craft store, I’ve started at Michael’s, and almost every time I’ve come up empty handed. For instance, did you know that they don’t even sell zippers? And when they do sell stuff, it often seems like for the things I need, they don’t have it in the size, color, style, or whatever that I am looking for. There have been exceptions of course, times when I did get what I needed, but it’s been awhile. So, it’s a good thing that there is a local store that sells the same type of stuff. Maybe one day I will get wise and head to this place first since it’s a few miles closer. Of course, I’m sure that would ensure that the store wouldn’t have what I needed and I’d have to do the same amount of driving anyway, just in a different order!
Oh well. :)

Bad Reader
Tonight I have book club and I haven’t read more than like 4 pages of the book. I can’t even say it’s because I didn’t like it, because the font is kind of big, so I really hadn’t read enough either way to gain an opinion. I guess I just haven’t had time, or rather, I have spent my time doing things other than reading.
I didn’t read much of the last book either, but that book was waaaaaaaay wordy, in a bad Dickens sort of way It also didn’t end up mattering that I hadn’t read, as I got the days of the meeting mixed up and went on a date with Ben instead of going to book club.
This time, however, I will be attending, even though I will be able to contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation on the book. Luckily we aren’t really a group that cares too much about such things, and only talk about the book for some of the time before delving into random tangents. We are also a small group who are happy if a decent number of people actually decide to show up. Plus, a good number of people never wind up finishing anyway. Of course, I’m pretty sure they get farther than page 4, but whatever. At least I’m getting out of the house—something I’ve tried to limit while my foot gets better.

Now in Technicolor!
So my foot is feeling a bit better. I can walk on it almost normally, which is an improvement from last Sunday. It still hurts at certain angles, so it’s definitely not 100%, but at least it’s a bit more functional. I can also move my toes in a wider range without pain, though that also hurts still in certain ways. I guess these things don’t magically heal in less than a week, huh?
To add to the fun, my foot has decided to turn all kinds of crazy colors. The top is a dull dark green, while the side, all the way to my heel has turned some nice shades of green and purple and who knows what else. It’s kinda gross. I had mistakenly thought it looked better, since the top wasn’t as hideous, but then I happened to see the side of my foot and was like “oh, maaaaybe not!”
I’m sure it’ll get all better soon, but it’s kinda annoying not knowing how long it’s going to take. But as I said, at least I can get around decently on it, so it could totally be worse.

5 Years
Yesterday was my 5 year blogaversary! Wow, that is quite a long time! It certainly doesn’t seem that long, especially considering that I started this blog after I graduated from college, and it doesn’t seem like I’ve been done for almost 6 years.
Craziness!
If this were a real anniversary, the appropriate gifts would apparently either be Wood (if going Traditional) or Silverware (if going modern). Any and all gifts are welcome, however. Just Kidding! :)
Too bad I didn’t remember on the actual anniversary in order to properly commemorate it, but I suppose one day late isn’t so bad.

The Dangers of Kite Flying
Yesterday afternoon I went with Ben to this kite flying event thingie—he brought 2 kinds of kites, one with one string, and this super high-tech kite that required 4 strings and two sticks. It was SOOOO windy yesterday it was pretty crazy—a bit too much wind for kite flying actually, especially when you consider all the inexperienced little kids trying to control these kites. In fact, the wind was a bit too crazy for the super kite, as it wound up being more hassle and setup than actual time spent having fun flying it. As for me, I lasted about 10 minutes with the regular kite flying and then, while trying to help get the kite back off the ground after it fell, I rolled my foot on a hill and totally like sprained my foot or something. It wasn’t excruciating when i did it, but it did hurt quite a bit and the top outer part of my right foot is a bit bruised and swollen looking today. I don’t think it’s broken, but that isn’t much consolation considering it’s still gonna be awhile before it’s all better. Good thing I work from home and don’t need to walk much.
Although, not wanting to ruin the day by insisting he drive me home after only 10 minutes, I stayed and just watched all the activity instead. I probably walked around on it more than I should’ve, but he did stop and get me some ice before we continued on and eventually went to grab some dinner and stuff.
Speaking of being a homebody in my last post, I guess I won’t be out dancing any time soon! Stupid foot. I’ve never sprained a foot or ankle before, although I did once sprain both my wrists at the same time, which sucked a little more than this. So, I suppose I’ll live!

Homebody
I had mentioned to Claire on like Wednesday night or something when she asked what I was up to this weekend that perhaps we would go out. However, it is now after 10:30pm on Saturday night and I am still here, so I don’t think that is happening. I could call her up, and I’m sure she’d be down for it, but I’m not sure I want to. It’s cold and super windy outside—windy enough that it is making my apartment building shake—and it just doesn’t motivate me to want to get outside.
Besides, I wound up going to Wildcat on Thursday night with Jenn, because she wanted to continue the evening a bit more after dinner and margaritas. I had wanted to be done by 10, because I was then planning on spending time with Ben. When I mentioned this reason to Jenn, she told me to invite him along (as a way to get me to agree as well as meet him I suppose), so I did and he agreed, so he met us there. Man, the place was pretty dead when we got there, but by the time we left, there were tons of people near the bar area. Also of note that evening were the people that were interesting to observe—such as the dude that was dancing like a girl—dropping down, gyrating all over the place, and generally dancing in the manner you generally see girls do. Jenn started trying to take video of him with her camera phone and he noticed and totally started playing it up some more.
So, while I may have gone out and had a nice time on Thursday night, I haven’t done anything much this weekend. That’s ok though, sometimes it’s nice to just stay in and do nothing, right??

Windy Again
The last couple days it’s been super windy again. I can’t remember if it’s ever been this windy so often in all the time I’ve lived in SB. It doesn’t seem like it, but then again, I could be wrong. I just don’t remember hearing the clatter of trash can lids falling to the ground or the wind whipping through the trees quite so often.
Today is not Friday, even though it kinda feels like it should be. I am scheduled to go out for a bit with Jenn tonight—I haven’t seen her in like a month and she invited me out last weekend, but I went home for Easter. We are hanging out tonight because this weekend it is she that is going out of town. I don’t intend to stay out late though, just get a drink or two and catch up. We’ll see how it goes.

One More for Easter
There wound up being a few more people than expected at our Easter gathering. My cousin wound up coming over with her kids, only to leave shortly after because she went to go deliver her baby a few days early. The kids stayed with us though and played and ate dinner and candy—too bad we didn’t know ahead of time though or they could’ve gotten an egg hunt, although it wasn’t the sunniest of days anyway.
I got some candy from the Easter Bunny—some Peeps, some Cadbury Eggs, and some chocolate. Overall it was a nice holiday, though as expected the weekend was over far too quickly. At least I didn’t hit any real traffic on my drive back up!

Easter Weekend
I am home at my parents’ house this weekend for the Easter Holiday. It will be a bit of a smaller gathering this year, but apparently that will still amount to like 15 people or so. Only two little kids this year though so that means no hiding of eggs in the front yard for an easter egg hunt.
I drove home last night around 7pm and stopped to visit Kevin in Burbank on the way down. He’s lived in his apartment there for about a year and I had never been there. I saw his old apartment once, but I guess that means it was obviously more than a year ago since I did that! Regardless, I don’t often see him in person anymore, although we chat pretty much daily, so I got to do that in person for a few hours last night before continuing on my way to Whittier.
Don’t think I’m up to much today. My mom made me my favorite breakfast and now I’m just surfing the web a bit. Hope everyone is having a nice, relaxing and/or fun weekend!

10,011
Today is my 10,011th day alive. Awhile back I had calculated (thanks to this super nifty site) that Saturday March 24, 2007 was to be my 10,000 day alive.
Unfortunately, that date came and went and I totally forgot that is was a landmark day. I will blame it on the escaped monkeys, as it seems that that was the day in question.
At any rate, I still wanted to blog about it, because 10,000 days is a lot, and also a nice round number. If only I could’ve posted about this yesterday I at least could’ve done it on 10,010, but no matter. Perhaps I will just have to remember to celebrate 15,000,000 minutes of being alive on May 14, 2008!
When is YOUR next “important date”?

Another Monday
Where did the weekend go? I swear it was just Friday!
Friday night found me going out with Claire again—she called me at like 11pm asking if i wanted to get a drink. Since I didn’t have anything else going on at that time I agreed and quickly threw on some going-out clothes and luckily my hair didn’t look TOO retarded.
We mostly just danced and come the end of the night I went home while she went to some after-party thing she knew about. I declined because I am pretty positive that that would not have been my scene.
Saturday I don’t think I did much except pick up a little around the apartment. Last night I spent a nice evening with Ben, going out to dinner and spending several hours in the restaurant talking and drinking wine and eating dinner and dessert. It’s really nice that we can just sit there and talk for so long, although admittedly I think I do most of the talking since I’m really good with the whole telling people a million random stories thing. But he seems to like it, so it’s all good.
Today work-wise I am finishing up one project so that I can get started on the other one. Back to it!!
