How Full Is The Glass?

For some random reason I have just remembered an equally random comment I made a few weeks ago, and thought I’d share.

I was in possession of Steve’s car and we were about to head out of town with it. He asked me if the car had enough gas in it to get us where we were going.

My reply?

Yes. The tank is only 1/4th empty.

He thought that made me a pessimist, since I didn’t say the tank was 3/4th full. I thought I was being optimistic in saying it wasn’t THAT empty. What do YOU think? Do you see the tank (glass) as full or empty in general?

I don’t know if it makes you a pessimist or an optimist, but it sure as hell makes him anal retentive about semantics.

LOL perhaps. Though, it’s better than having someone who gets semantics all wrong (or spelling/grammar for that matter!). Besides, it was all in good fun. ;)

Hmm, maybe I’m an optimist after all…
