Where Did Summer Go?

It seems not so long ago that it got so hot during the afternoon that I would have to open the windows, turn the fan on, and wear the bare minimum of clothing inside my apartment.

Now there is a definite change. The mornings are cooler and overcast, and while it does get nice during the afternoon, it’s not nearly as hot. And now, as soon as evening comes, there is a noticeable drop in the temperature. It’s getting to where I can foresee having to put the flannel sheets on the bed soon.

I will blame the cooling of the temperature for my lack of posting over the last couple days. I did, however, manage to fulfill my goal written about in a previous post—I took pictures of some buildings and other objects in Goleta on Friday evening. I have edited some of them, but I am not sure when I will get around to posting them. Typically when I take pictures, I wait for an appropriate photo meme for which to publish them for the first time. But, we’ll see. Maybe I’ll decide to release them all as a series or something.

Taking the pictures reminded me of the other indicator that summer is gone—the days are much shorter now. I got off work around 6:15pm and took pictures until about 6:50pm, and by the time I was done, the sun was already setting. It was getting pretty dark by the time I reached my apartment downtown. I hate it when the days become shorter!

I still have yet to determine in what capacity I will use flickr. I mean, I already have a photoblog, so do I want to have some photos in one place and others in another? I’ve also thought about using flickr for the storage and then linking to the images, but I think that may involve too many steps.

I dunno, any thoughts?

or, as in this case, you can stick stuff in flickr until you know what to do with them but still want to share them.

Nope, didn’t hear the thunder. My boss, who also lives in Ventura asked us if we heard it, but I don’t think it came this far north. Of course, I could be wrong….it was 4 am and I was asleep. :)
