And the Thunder Rolls

This morning at 6:15am I was startled awake by what sounded like someone dragging a large metal object across the ground over an extremely long distance. Only, it wasn’t a metal object at all, but rather a prolonged bit of thunder. It was actually pretty scary sounding—especially considering that I was asleep and I think even in the middle of a dream.

A bright flash of lightening a little while later confirmed that it was indeed a storm and not some inconsiderate person causing an early-morning disturbance. I can’t even remember the last time it rained here, so I suppose we’re overdue. This is probably just a freak occurrence, as I hear it’s supposed to be sunny again later in the week. However, until then, the thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day.

Damn, I guess this ruins my plan to stand in the middle of a large field holding metal objects…

bah don’t let a little rain dampen your parade! hold your metal objects tall and proud! if anything, the weather will make the experience all the more exciting!

Ah, that’s the kind of glass half-full mentality I like to see! On the way to lunch it dawned on me that I should make sure I find a large field with a single tree. That way if the rain gets too heavy I can seek shelter there! ;)

curious question: is this part of the hurricane aftermath? :)

Hmm I’d say that’s highly doubtful. Texas is REALLY far from California. The point where the hurricane hit is probably about 3000 kilometers from where I live.

Today’s thunder and lightning is a bit of a freak occurrence I think, because they are predicting sunny and warmer weather the rest of the week!

California doesn’t get hurricanes, but we do get floods, forest fires, and earthquakes! :)

reason I asked: we usually feel the after effects of huge hurricanes about 1 month after they happen — I can remember the horrible weather we had after Andrew came around!

should add this: usually the east coast hurricanes/storms will affect the coast of africa and europe too :)
