Just the Fax, Ma’am
Have you ever gotten a call on a regular phone line and picked it up only to hear the *beep* indicating that someone is trying to transmit a fax?
It’s pretty frustrating, because you usually can’t call the person back to let them know about the error in dialing. Either the fax machine is busy trying to redial you, or the line would never get answered because it is a dedicated fax number.
Yesterday I received a call from someone in Mississippi. Of course, I don’t know anyone there, so I was quite at a loss as to who it could be. It turned out they were trying to send a fax. When it didn’t go through it redialed me a few times, and then when that didn’t work, they tried from a DIFFERENT phone number!
A few times I said hello, then I let it go to voice mail hoping they would hear it and figure it out, but when that didn’t work I tried to call them. One line was busy, the other rang until it beeped at me. The next time my phone rang I shouted HELLO and FINALLY someone must’ve heard and picked up the phone.
Thank goodness I got through, because these people seemed quite determined to send this fax, and it seemed as though they wouldn’t stop until they succeeded (which would’ve been never, considering that a cell phone is not a fax machine).

LOL did they ever tell you what they were faxing to whom? ;)

They have internal numbers so lets say you would fax me on number 562 which is my regular phone .. then I can put the fax which is 237. Very handy!
Hehe yea but I don’t have a fax machine, and I don’t know that I’d want to forward it to my office machine. Who knows what that person is trying to send! :)
And nope, they never told me who they were trying to reach. After I told them they were dialing a cell phone they didn’t call me again.
