Full Speed Ahead
I am home with my family this weekend in honor of Mother’s Day—and the fact that my mom took me clothes shopping today. Can’t pass up free stuff, right? :)
Anyway, despite the unusually long drive home (almost 3 hours when it usually only takes me 2 at that time of night), I arrived to a pleasant surprise—my parents got DSL!!
Even cooler, the modem they were sent is also capable of wireless, meaning that I can use my laptop without having to dialup or be near the other computer. Woo. It’s so much nicer not having to suffer with dialup every time I come. I’m so glad that they finally decided to upgrade their internet.
Maybe I’m spoiled, but once you go high speed, it’s really hard to deal with dialup.

BE vs. The World
*HUG*
Happy Mother’s Day
LOL. Does that mean that Belgium is the only place that celebrates it in August? I know that England celebrates earlier in the year.
Although, hmm check this out. About.com seems to think that Belgium celebrates on the same day as us. Is there something you’re not telling us, Sofie? ;)

See.. we have 2 mother days.. 2 father days.
The REAL one is August 15 but then kids at school are having there holiday (july and august to be exactly) and they cannot make a present at school for there mother. Therefor people moved it over to the other day and shops are, of course, taking benifits from this (same like Valentines day *bleh*). But the REAL one remains August 15! And yes .. in the area where I live (nearby Antwerp) the feeling of the 15th is even stronger. So I’m deffinatly stuck to that one.
I guess the article on your link from Kimberly Powell is incomplete. :)
according to the supersource on the internet, the wikipedia, belgium celebrates mom’s day on the second sunday in may. Antwerp itself is listed as Aug 15, and it’s tied to the catholic holy day of Assumption Day, relating to Mary, mother of jesus.
so maybe that’s where all the confusion is from.

According to your data on the internet and probably which is true because well.. we do have 2 dates the ppl celebrate it in may but we all get a free day off on August 15 because of mother day!
Wow, that’s awesome! Here it’s just recognized as a day to do something nice. But ours is always on a Sunday so no one gets an extra day off.
I think we need more holidays with mandatory days off. :)
