Heat Things Up (Please!)

Brrr, it is super cold. Winter is definitely approaching, and bringing with it the “I-can-see-my-breath-almost-freezing-in-midair” kind of cold.

Of course, blasting Christmas tunes in my car while driving with the heat all the way up is the perfect way to counter-act this. The only thing that would make it more perfect would be if I had gotten the heated seat option in my Jetta. Ah well, we can’t have it all.

Living in Southern California, you might think I’m being a bit overdramatic. After all, we don’t refer to things like “wind chill factor” in everyday conversation, nor do we need chains, snow tires, snow scrapers, etc. But I’m going to complain anyway! I mean, it’s getting down into the 30’s at night! That means that IT COULD SNOW HERE! Today we’re expected to have a high of 59 and a low of 35. That is quite cold to me, what with the little natural insulation that I possess. To illustrate the coldness, all the mountains in the LA area were snow-capped over the weekend. Looks very cool (literally! HA HA!).

Anyway, it also makes me wish that my new studio weren’t over 100 years old and actually had central heating. It is COLD in there in the morning, OH MY GOD. I wound up wearing SHOES with SOCKS just because my feet were so cold walking around in the morning while getting ready.

Is it Spring yet???

does this mean, we have to feel sorry for you living in California?

:P

It sure does! Pity me, living in a beach town where the palm trees sway and it is sunny and 70 degrees (20 Celsius) almost all year round, but where there is a cold breeze that makes it hard to appreciate the clear day. :)

So, um, are you pitying me yet?? :)

…….

Hello??

Damn.

I was in Boston last week and will be there for much of December and January. Sympathy I have for you = 0.

Ah Splinter, the joys of living below the equator when the northern half is experiencing winter! And wow, 42?? That’s like 107 Fahrenheit! Sounds wonderful. :)

Ah, I imagine Boston is a bit colder than Santa Barbara. It’s already snowing there, no?

Feeling pity?

Hmmmm

Nup.. not yet.

I got a -4 in the morning’s (celcius).

But .. hold on .. spring is almost there!

Hmm, I guess that means that a winter trip to Belgium is not in store for me! :)

How do you survive those temperatures?! I’m getting colder just THINKING about it!

It’s a frigid 35 in Ventura at night too. Imagine that!

When my sister was in Wellington, New Zealand, in summer 2001, (their winter) she was at about 38 degrees south latitude. I think.

No insulation in a freezing 100 year old house, closer to Antarctica than I’ll even be dragged. Sound familiar? She had to put on layers before going to sleep.

Who spoke about surviving?
I’m not :P .. I’m freezing stuck on the street but I make myself happy that I don’t live in Norway or up the north.
Tho… -4 means no snow. For snow you need around 0. :/
