Money Money
Woo, today is payday! This is my second payday since working for this new company, but it is the first one in which I received a whole check (the last check was only for 1 week of work instead of the normal 2). This means that I now get to see how much more I will get to make as compared to my last job.
Let me just say that the government sucks. Half of my raise is taken in taxes—meaning on a monthly basis, I’m not making a ton more or anything. I guess more is more, so I should be happy—I’ll probably actually get raises and bonuses here (what a concept! It’s one that didn’t exist as of late at the University), and of course I’ll get at least part, if not all, the Federal tax and State tax, so it’s not all bad. Unless of course this additional income now prevents me from obtaining such a refund—I hope not!

Don’t forget your employer would be willing to pay you an additional 7.65% that instead goes to the government for Medicare. But fear not, the State and Federal Government is spending your tax dollars on only the most worthwhile causes such as occupying Iraq, Political Conventions, and all the workaholics at your old job.
