Ain’t Nuthin’ But a G(mail) Thang

I’ve had a Gmail account for a few months now, and after a long drought, I finally have an invite to give.

Sooo, if there happens to be anyone out there who doesn’t already own a gmail email address, and would like one, let me know. Just in case more than one person responds, tell me a funny story or something, so that I’ll be more likely to pick you. ;) I will post the winner just as soon as I decide/get any responses.

I’ve gotta tell you though….I’ve been waiting a long time for an invite, just so I could use this clever entry title! I guess I can check that off my list now. I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Send me the invite! Hmm, a funny story.. Let me see… I’m not good in this =/.. Poor creativity =(, look my nick:

My nick is the abbreviation of my name, this show how my creativity is poor =(!! Snif… God was not good to me =’(!

Thanks,

Well, I am a good friend of Cephyn’s, so
hopefully that doesn’t disqualify me. I
read your all the time and just happend
to notice that you got an invite to “give”
out. AND I’ve noticed that there was only
one other person that has responded… SOoo,
I figured… well, you know… 50/50 right?

My real name is “Yoo Sok” Kim. (haha!) and
my nick is because I used to drive an old
civic del sol (automatic), hence the name
“delslow”.

I would be forever in your debt,
-delslow

About 2 months ago, I would have begged at your feet for the chance of a GMail account. Not anymore :)
Somehow after hearing all about Google’s stock-stories I’m slowly loosing faith in Google; I’m afraid it’s going towards another dot-poof.

So Jen, thanks for the invite, but no thanks ;-)

I broke up with the Indian girlfriend, and now I’m dating a girl who, while a minor, was driving drunkenly and hit a tree. The passenger, who was of age, died at the accident. While in a coma, she had a stroke so her left side doesn’t work very well, including a very limited use of her left hand.

When we were at my parents’ house for dinner, my mom’s fiancé came in and asked how she wanted her steak cooked. After he left…

“Steak? Great.”

“What?”

“I’m not very good at cutting my food!”

I don’t want a gmail account, but don’t forget that my stories are the best around.

I don’t get the massive flocking to get G-Mail. Is there something special attached? Money? LOL! I just keep seeing these and feel like even though I looked at the site, I am missing something…

Sofie, what part don’t you get?

And man, what’s the world coming to when you can’t even give away free gmail invites to your regular readers.

Hehe Angela, I guess people just like it because of the tons of disk space, the feeling of exclusivity (for now…although not too exclusive anymore considering the number of invites out there), and the searching capabilities of its archives.

You or Sofie interested? Or anyone else?? :)

LOL! No thanks :) I have about 5 addresses already - one ISP bound and the rest domain e-mails. So I’m all fulled up here. But, umm…I’d take one if I didn’t have mine. It’s not you - it’s me!

I don’t get the part that you have to give invites for a gmail account.
I thought it was free already.

10 | Posted by: Sofie on August 25, 2004 @ 12:50 PM

Sofie - yes GMail is free, but you can only get it through an invite by someone else :)

11 | Posted by: Leonieke on August 25, 2004 @ 1:31 PM

Yes, what Leonieke said. While it is in beta testing, people can only get an account by being “invited.” It’s free though. LOL, interested? :)

I see.. I would love to have it but appart that I have emailspace enoff it would be best to first see and look around for someone who can be made really happy with it. :)

13 | Posted by: Sofie on August 25, 2004 @ 11:49 PM

Well, it’s yours if you want it! I apparently got a few more, and I’m pretty sure I don’t know enough people who’d want one. So just let me know, and I’ll send you the email. :)

I’m not falling into any supprise when i read that as I’m confessed that every free-email account serving provider does that.
Even my ISP.
I once received an email from an entire unknow source telling me that my email was infected and indeed.. my computer was having a virus at that moment.
I was going like: ‘what on earth are you checking my email???’.
From then on I do no longer worry about all this.
I live in a country where I can speak out freely onto the internet. Tho.. this way of working is not in all country’s taken in a good way. I’ll take China as example for this. :/

Yea I read some of that stuff before. It’s true though….anyone can read your stuff if they REALLY want…and all those email places have privacy policies that don’t give you complete privacy over what you send. I’m not too worried though, I doubt my emails are worthwhile to those people.
