Ok, so I guess the system doesn't always work--at least not in Santa Barbara County. I finally received the results of my Trial by Written Declaration for that speeding ticket. Not only was I still found guilty (not really a surprise there, huh?), but they denied me traffic school and didn't reduce my fine by a single cent!

I suppose I was going so fast that they wanted me to suffer the consequences to the full extent of the law--to learn my lesson or something. I'm sure they also liked the substantial chunk of change I was forced to give them, and didn't want to refund any portion of it to this menace to society.

Well, at least I tried huh? I mean, I could still fight it with a court appearance, but given how fast I was going, I doubt they would be very lenient--especially if they didn't show ANY leniency in the written trial. Rumor has it that judges give more favorable rulings in the written trials, since they don't have to worry about other people seeing the verdicts and expecting the same leniency. What a crock!

Yea, burn baby burn! I mean, just cuz I went too fast doesn't mean I need to pay over $300! Although, if I'm going to donate that much money to the county, don't you think I should at least get some sort of commemorative plaque or something?

Umm....the cop said 95mph. Hehe, so it's not like the ticket was unjustified. But they could've at least reduced the fine or given me traffic school so that I could learn my lesson without being reduced to poverty. ;)

Ok rub it in Mr. Moneybags, I AM pretty much at poverty level. Which makes it even worse that the courts showed no sympathy. I would've mentioned exactly what percentage of my monthly income that $336 was, but I don't want people to laugh at me, or pass out from gasping in prolonged shock.

Well, I drive that stretch of road every morning when I go to work. I don't think I had gone that fast before, and well....I try not to go above 80mph now ;)
