Quasi-Slashdotted
I doubt I’ll ever be cool enough to make it to the front page of /., but yesterday I guess I got the next best thing—I am one of the predominant links of a page that is linked on the front of Slashdot.
The page contains a comparison chart for the various blogging systems that are available. I noticed that the author didn’t mention MT’s keyword capability (although this feature is NOT obvious), so I sent an email so that he could update his info. The author updated the info and put my page on there as an example of a site that uses MT.
By Slashdot standards I haven’t gotten many hits at all—only about 350—however, that’s 3 times more than I normally get in a day, so I guess that’s cool.
As for blogging programs, I’ve been testing out Wordpress to see if I can get it to do everything MT does. I probably won’t switch to it though unless I am able to incorporate my photolog the way I currently do with MT. Being that it is so easy to write plugins for it using PHP, this probably shouldn’t be a problem. Now I just need to actually learn PHP, so that I don’t have to hack away by trial and error like I did with a few of the plug-ins I used.
