Accept No Imitations
An anonymous coworker put out a box of Imitation Oreo Cookies for everyone to eat. I have never seen this brand before—they aren’t Hydrox (Hi, I’m a Drox!), nor are they those tasteless pieces of crap put out by Snackwells (I think I have yet to like any of their imitation stuff. If no fat = no flavor, then give me the fat, I say!!!). Upon further inspection, I have learned that the cookies are Newman’s Own Newman-O’s
Blech. I think I know why these cookies are being “generously” given away. This coworker is literally killing us with kindness—the cookies taste nothing like Oreos! The chocolate outside isn’t HORRIBLE but it’s not quite chocolatey enough, and the filling tastes a bit off somehow—I guess that’s what happens when you remove the Trans-fatty Acids. These definitely can’t compare to Double Stuf Oreos! Mmmmm Double Stuf….those are the best creme filled chocolate cookies, IMHO. To each his/her own though, right??
Excuse me while I go to the drinking fountain to rinse out my mouth…

While many of the Newman’s Own line of products are spiffy, Newman-Os is not one of them.
I recommend their Fig Newmans, however. If you’ve ever wondered what it would taste like if a Fig Newton actually tasted like figs, this is it.
Their chocolate cups are good, if you don’t expect the peanut butter to taste like Reese’s, because that, as we all know, does not taste like peanut butter.
The tortilla chips are good, too. I like the jalapeno ones because they taste like real corn and real, unpickled jalapenos, not citric acid and chili powder.
And who could forget the lemonade and the salad dressing? Yum!
God, I am such a closeted hippie.

Ooh, I love Fig Newtons, so maybe I’ll try the Fig Newmans someday. And the lemonade.
LOL you MUST be a closeted hippie. I see it took me talking about an organic product to get you to stop lurking and finally comment on something. ;)
Anyway, thanks for the product reviews—I’m glad you agree with my opinion of Newman-Os! :)
