How difficult should it be to buy a single postage stamp??

The University has its own Post Office which, due to its super convenience, often has a good number of people during peak school hours. People can do a number of things there--buy stamps, mail and pickup packages, etc. The thing that sucks is that, for most transactions, you have to stand in a line--which can be quite time-consuming since most of these patrons never seem to know exactly what they want to do.

The Post Office does have a vending machine for stamps, but it only sells weird overseas stamps, super-special priority mail stamps, postcard stamps, and booklets of like 300 regular stamps.

I don't want to buy $20 worth of stamps when I only need 1! I don't want to wait in a 3 hour line for 1 freakin' stamp! I think there should be a better way! It shouldn't be that hard to mail something spur of the moment. :)
