I Wanna Get Physical, Physical…
Today, after much anticipatory freaking out, I finally had a physical exam. I haven’t had one in a decade—the last time was August, 1993. I decided that I really should find out that I’m not in danger of dying suddenly from a hidden illness anytime in the near future.
It seems that I am healthy, so when I told the doctor that I am completely needle phobic, she said that blood tests weren’t really necessary at this point in time. Maybe I should’ve gotten it done anyway, just to make sure, but she didn’t seem concerned at all that I wasn’t going to be tested. If she didn’t care, I sure as hell wasn’t going to volunteer!
Of course, that means I did a whole bunch of freaking out for nothing. Anyway, I’d like to thank Steve for trying to help me with the blood test stuff—even though I didn’t wind up needing it. Also, thanks to everyone else who listened to me freaking out incessantly in anticipation of it.

I hate needles too! If anyone mentions that word around me I loose all color and start to feel weak. I have also been known to pass out at the site of one…lol

Hehe and Colleen, unfortunately I don’t pass out (maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if I woke up and they were done)—I just start crying uncontrollably once they grab my arm. :/
4 | Posted by: JenniferNeedles are just plain scary. I don’t blame you for crying! If I ever let them get that close to me with a needle I bet I would cry too! Do you get scared while at the dentist? The tools they use freak me out too. Actually, the dentist I have been going to for over a year now had to give me some med to calm me down before I got to the office, otherwise I would have never gone!
5 | Posted by: Colleen on October 15, 2003 @ 9:57 AMYea, luckily I haven’t seen a needle since like 1997, but I still remember what it’s like—although I think the idea in my head is probably worse than the reality, but I’m not anxious to prove that any time soon!
I used to be really afraid of the dentist too. Sometimes I was so uncooperative, they’d refuse to work on me. Although now I’ve decided it’s not so bad. I haven’t had a cavity though, so I think that’s why I’m not so freaked out. If there were needles or drilling or pain involved, I think I’d still be scared.
They gave me valium when I went in to have my wisdom teeth pulled, but the idea of taking it scared me just as much as the procedure, so I didn’t wind up using it. I bet they wished I did!
6 | Posted by: JenniferI had my last physical 2 years ago, mostly as a “keep my mom and girlfriend from bugging me about it” kinda thing. I wasn’t surprised at the assessment that I was out of shape, but I was surprised at my scale-tipping 200 pound weigh-in. At least I still have a pretty face.
