Icyshard v3.0

All right, I decided I couldn’t wait until I got home today to release the new look, so here it is. I guess you can say this is my “Blue Period” design. I hope you guys like it, but regardless of your opinion, let me know what you think. Now that I’ve got one validated site up, I’m already thinking of the different skins I can make for it.

Oh and read all about the changes I made in the Extended Entry:

  1. Removed all tables (except for the calendar) and made it CSS and XHTML compliant.
  2. Added some cool PHP stuff like the "Show more here" and "Show comments here" links that you've no doubt clicked on (or else you wouldn't be reading this).
  3. Added some code so that duplicate comment posts will be eliminated.
  4. Added some more code so that when I post comments, I will not be sent an email notification. This functionality won't be apparent to anyone else, but I think it's cool
  5. Added a category page for my photography, just on the odd chance anyone cares and wants to see all of the entries where I post photos.
  6. Added a drop-down menu for the archives. You can still see a list by clicking on the link in the header of my site, but if you want to get there quicker and more direct, this may be an option for you.
  7. Added a list of the 5 previous posts. My main page displays the 5 most recent entries, and this sidebar lists the 5 before that, giving you an idea of my last 10 posts.
  8. Added recently commented section. I designed it so that it only shows the last 5 entries that were commented on most recently, along with the name of the last person who commented on each one. I debated doing it like Ivette01, but decided on this approach.
  9. Added a blogroll as the way to maintain my links to other blogs. For those people that ping their sites on weblogs.com, you can see if they've updated recently.
Well, I think that pretty much covers it, so feel free to comment. Oh, and if anyone is wondering how I did any of the stuff listed above, just ask. I got most of the scripts from Scriptygoddess.

Woooooooooohooooooooo! Yepp, I do like this more than the last version. Congratulations for this design!
Actually, I don’t know whether you have already noticed, I started modifying my MT today towards the design I have in mind. Damn, what a lot of work… I might need to contact you about some things on your site I really like but don’t know how to realize within MT yet.
Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks guys! I’m glad you all like it!

Ivette, the show comments thing isn’t hard at all. Basically, all you need to do is make your index .php instead of .html and then insert the code in the right place. If you ever decide to do it, I can help you.

Martin, no problem. Anything I can help you with, I will be more than happy to assist. I know how it is. A TON of modifying the code to get it to do what you want. Email or ICQ me or whatever. I think I’ll go check out your site now…
