26 Things

The wait is finally over! Check out my 26 Things Gallery, which is now posted for viewing!
I am posting this now, because submissions are already being accepted. I submitted mine already, and I was the 4th person! Anyway, I highly suggest you go visit the Official 26 Things page to check out everyone else’s submissions.
I hope you all like my pics. Any comments you have on them are welcome.

Project Completed
I took all the pictures for 26 Things already, and the last two nights were spent organizing my gallery. I finally finished that late last night, and now I’ve got it all ready to reveal to the world on August 1. I’ll probably put the link up tomorrow, because the girl organizing the contest is in Australia and it will already be August over there.
This project was fun, and it was something to keep me busy in the attempt to complete all the items. Some were hard to come up with ideas for, and while I feel that some of the pictures are much better than others, overall I think I like them.
So anyway, remember to check back soon to see the “official unveiling” of my gallery! How exciting. I hope you all like it! :)

VINDICATION!!!
Woohoo, I have been ahead of this trend for years! Flip-flops are becoming the hottest office attire, according to CNN.com. I know this spells VERY bad news for Colleen, but I for one am ecstatic! Now my mom can’t give me crap for dressing “unprofessionally” at work.
And check out this quote:
“…[S]ome admit to shunning all footwear except flip-flops, wearing them not just to work but almost everywhere.”
Eerie. Even eerier that this is my second flip-flop post of the day. Speaking of which, I should really go out and buy a new pair.
Random Hits
Well, not much to write about at the moment, so I thought I would post some interesting hits to my site.
This is my kind of person (even if they do speak French):
flip-flops cannot-live-without
This is NOT my kind of person:
Jetsons porn pics
The weekend is coming up. That probably means I’ll be taking some pictures for Photo Friday and to complete 26 Things.

Audience Potpourri Participation!
I was away from the internet almost all last week, so I didn’t do last week’s questions. Anyway, this week has more questions, so perhaps that will make up for it.
2. Best Literary/Movie Villan: Voldemort (Harry Potter) or Sauron (LoTR)? Umm I haven’t read either of the series’, and not enough movies have come out to show the true range of the villains. So, for now, I say neither.
3. Meat: rare or well-done? Well-done, though not burnt. Anywhere from medium, to medium-well is perfect.
4. High Speed Internet-Cable or DSL? Cable. That’s what I have. Plus, some people I know had DSL and it sucked, so they switched to cable.
5. Women: 1-piece bathing suit or Bikini? Anyone who knows me knows the answer to this. Hell yea, bikini! I haven’t owned a one-piece since I was like 7.
6. To be fair—Men: Boxers or briefs? Anyone who knows m also knows the answer to this: BOXERS!!!! Oh, and those guys who think they are getting the “best of both worlds” with boxer briefs, I think they look lame—like longer tighty whities. Take a stand and choose one or the other!
7. Beer or Liquor/Wine? Definitely liquor or wine. I HATE beer. I am a vodka girl, although I will drink some wines—preferably red.
8. Coke or Mountain Dew? Coke, regular of course. Diet is nasty.
9. In honor of my 10/18/03 nuptials: Morning or Afternoon/Night Wedding? Afternoon wedding, I guess. I’m not a morning person, and I’d probably be too cold at night.
10. Carpet or Hardwood Floors? Carpet, I guess. As long as it doesn’t shock me in the winter.
11. American cars or foreign? Foreign. German cars rule!
12. Cutest TV Twin: Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen? You mean the Trollsen Twins?? Actually, I saw them lately and they look pretty cute. I can’t tell them apart though, even though they aren’t identical. So, I really can’t say.
13. Coffee: Caffeinated or Decaf? Neither. I don’t drink coffee.
14. Thought-Provoking Question of the Week: Computers: Do they make life better or worse? Why? Better. What would I do with all my free time if I couldn’t get on the internet?? Computers kick ass.

Summer Vacation
OK, so I had a 6 day vacation, and I did manage to keep busy for most of it. The main event was of course the family trip to SD. I took waaaay too many pictures, mainly because I have the digital camera and can afford to “waste” shots on random things, and partly so I can complete the 26 things scavenger hunt.
Anyway, the pics are far too numerous, and possibly even too uninteresting to show them all. Therefore, I present the Cliff’s Notes version!

We started out in Old Town

Then we headed to Sea World to see Shamu

The next day we went to the Zoo…
UPDATE for the curious: Click on pic to see enlarged view of me and my sis.

Where we visited the world famous Pandas

On our last day we stopped by Seaport Village
In addition to the 3 days in San Diego, I did other stuff as well. I went to the Orange County Fair with my family and neighbors. It was ok, but slightly boring since I didn’t go there to buy anything. It was actually a little awkward because the neighbor that stole from us 2 years ago was there, but overall it turned out OK. Oh, and I got to eat a cream puff and sno-cone.
I went to Raging Waters with Steve, who was driving through that area because of a trip to Vegas. We had mentioned in the past how fun water parks were, and us both being in that neck of the woods, along with it being summer and hot outside, gave us the perfect reason to go. I think he had fun. I enjoyed it, although I swear the lines took longer than I remember.
I ate dinner with Kevin and Melany at Applebee’s. Melany just hung out and didn’t eat, as she had a bowling date, but it was cool to see her nonetheless. Kev is supposedly in town this weekend, and he is supposed to call me and hang out.
I think I did other stuff as well, but I really can’t remember at the moment, and most of you probably aren’t reading all this anyway, so I think I shall end here.

Back in Town
Some of you may be wondering why I have been so silent for the past week or so. The answer to this question is simple: I have been on vacation with my family. I am back now, but do not feel like recounting details at the moment. I will probably tell about my vacation and maybe even include a photo or two tomorrow.
I just wanted to write a little something tonight so no one would think I dropped off the face of the earth! :)

Summer Potpourri
This week we talk more about summer! Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE summer?? :)
2. “Legally Blonde 2” or “Terminator 3”? Well, since I’ve seen Legally Blonde 2 and not T3, my answer is Legally Blonde. I loved the first one, although the second is not so good.
3. Hamburgers or hot dogs? Hamburgers, with cheese only—NO other toppings. The rare times I eat hot dogs they are completely plain.
4. Boating or hiking? Boating
5. Suntan lotion or sunblock? OMG I never made the distinction before! I say suntan lotion though, especially if it smells like coconut.
6. “Big Brother” or “The Amazing Race”? I’ve never watched either, so I really can’t say.
7. Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffett? Definitely Beach Boys—I loved them growing up. People who like Buffet better are freaks!
8. Grow your own produce or buy from supermarket/greengrocer/farm stand? Buy it from the supermarket. I’d probably kill all the plants if I tried to grow my own, not to mention I don’t have any place to do it.
9. Drive with car windows/top down, or with air-conditioning on? Drive with sunroof open, maybe also a window down. I like the sun, and I like it HOT!!!
10. Go away for vacation, or stay at home? Well, I almost ALWAYS stay at home, and that is really really boring. I like it when I actually go away for vacation.

Independence Weekend
No BBQ’s or anything this year, but I hung out at Vince’s and watched a movie and later went over by Girsh Park to watch the fireworks display. The display only lasted about 15 minutes, but I suppose it almost seemed a little longer, because there were little kids around that decided to name every color in the sky. This was cute at first, and good that kids are practicing their color recognition skills; but it does get a little old 10 minutes into it when they are still shouting “BLUE”, “YELLOW”, “GREEN”, “RED” after every single explosion.
This afternoon I met up with Kevin and Kyra at D’Vine for lunch. We were supposed to meet at 1pm, but they text messaged me at 12:30 saying they were already there.
It was nice getting to hang out with Kev (who was only in town for this weekend), as I haven’t seen him much since he moved back home, although I am constantly IMing him to entertain me while I’m at work. I hope to hang out with him a bit next weekend when I join up with my family for our vacation in San Diego. It was also cool seeing Kyra again, as she is nice, and someone I hadn’t hung out with too much. She is only in town until she finishes up one last class in summer school.
Anyway, back to enjoying having a 3-day weekend!

Cleanliness is Important
In the last 3 days I have gotten 4 shower-related hits to my site:
- Shower tub combinations
- Running water guys shave (I’m not sure I wanna know about this one)
- Temporary showers bathroom
- Clean 3 minute showers
These searches all reference my recent rant regarding my housemates and their messiness in the bathroom. I had NO idea all things related to showers were such popular search topics!

Summer Fun
This week’s theme is all about summer!
2. Swimming pool or beach? Both. Pool if I’m actually going to swim, and beach if I just want to hang out.
3. Long weekends here & there, or a 2-week vacation? Both! :) I think I prefer the 2-week vacation though, provided I have something planned to do.
4. Destination: Acapulco or Hawaii? Hawaii!
5. Destination: Mountains or Beach? Beach
6. Hotel/motel/B&B or camping? Hotel. I’m not too outdoorsy, although I did camp a lot as a Girl Scout.
7. Carefully planned vacation, or play it by ear? Depends. Generally I would like to have a sense of what I’m going to do, but believe it or not, I actually had fun in Europe just playing it by ear.
8. Sneakers or sandals? Anyone who knows me already knows the answer to this. It’s a no-brainer. Definitely sandals—I HATE wearing closed toe shoes and socks. I prefer being barefoot though.
9. Air-conditioning or fans? Air-conditioning, although I rarely feel either is necessary. Bring on the heat!
10. Concerts in the park or baseball games? Baseball games. I’ve been to a few games, and haven’t been to any concerts in the park.
