In the Company of Friends
I had a nice weekend. On Saturday I once again offered my “expertise” to Steve and gave him a bunch of software for his new computer. I installed most of it. After that I went to Vince’s and watched some bad French movie called The Crimson Rivers that starred Jean Reno. On Sunday I watched another foreign film—this time a German one (yay!). It was by the same director who did Run, Lola, Run and once again starred Franka Potente in the lead role. This movie was not as good as Run, Lola, Run, but I liked it because I got to test my ability to understand German a bit.
The other kinda cool thing that took place this weekend was the visit of Martin. He came up around 9:30 pm, which was a little later than he initially anticipated. We then called up Kevin, went to his place, and then eventually went to the Mercury Lounge (aka “The Merc”). It’s basically a place where pseudo-intellectuals go to hang out and wax philosophical. The inside is a bit eclectic, but it was kinda cool. I had never been there, but it is a strictly beer and wine bar. Being that I am not a beer drinker, I had two glasses of Cabernet. This was probably more than I should’ve had, given that I only had cereal for dinner. I felt the after-effects well into this afternoon and decided to make a half-day of work. My headache and slight feeling of ickiness made it so that I knew I wouldn’t get too much work done. If i’m going to be unproductive, I may as well not be there at all. Oh well, I’ll be there tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just have to make up for it then.
