Parlez vous Francais?
This weekend was not as exciting as the last, but I got to sleep in and finally catch up for being so tired due to Tuesday’s bowling. Vince and I rented Amelie, which I liked, although Vince was sorta annoyed with. He says he recognizes that it’s a good film, and that he’ll need to see it again to like it. To complete the “frenchness” of the weekend, we also watched The Dinner Game. It was good, although I got pretty annoyed with the character of Francois Pignon, a stereotypical French Jackass that provides comic relief. These kinds of characters bother me because they are so over the top in their stupidity and are so dense that they never realize how much other people dislike them. Of course, I suppose I know people in real life who fit this description, so I guess I can’t really say it’s a fictitious stereotype. Also in the spirit of France, I rewatched Sabrina on cable, which partly took place in Paris. Adding to the oddness of the French theme, is one in which references to the Grim Reaper and The Seventh Seal abounded. I don’t know how or why, but it just seemed that those references came up a lot this weekend. Strange. Anyway, other than that, I didn’t do much other than wash my car. Exciting stuff. :)

A Weekend of Festivities
Well, the weekend was nice. The sky was blue and it was warm and sunny all weekend. The Renaissance Faire and French Festival were both held this weekend, but I did not wind up attending either. Instead, on Saturday I went with Vince to see Lilo and Stitch.
On Sunday I attended Nick’s 22nd birthday party at Kevin’s. I wound up staying there until 1am! Needless to say, I was a bit tired this morning when I went to work. It was fun though—a lot of people to talk to, and a cookies and creme cake! Hmm there’s really not much else to tell, but I had fun this weekend.

Talk and Bowl
Normally I don’t mention my bowling excursions anymore, because they have become fairly common, but Tuesday’s trip was a little more unusual. For starters, way more people showed up this time—10 to be exact. We took up two lanes. On one lane it was me, Kevin, Melany, Mike, and Kyra. On the other lane it was Alex, Alex (Carson), Nick, Jeff, and Dan. The games themselves were also a bit more unusual because Nick bowled an awesome game of 178 or something and Melany actually bowled a spare WHILE ON HER CELL PHONE. Melany’s spare was pretty funny. The guy next to her let her bowl first and then looked on in bewilderment as she proceeded to knock down 9 pins while on the phone. Continuing her conversation, she managed to knock down the remaining pin. Craziness. Adding to the craziness was Alex (Carson) picking up and swinging everyone who got a spare or strike, and his insistence that, whenever our turns coincided, he and I bowl simultaneously. I think we all had fun. Sadly, next week will be Melany’s last bowling Tuesday, as she is moving back home shortly after.
In other news, I finally put up my Match Game Drinking Game, so go check it out. I hope that those who know the show will find it amusing and include most beloved moments. For those unfamiliar with the game, check it out on Game Show Network and play along if you dare! A word of warning, I think if one were to play my game to the letter, one would be dead of alcohol poisoning by the end. I would suggest reading it for laughs, or picking the moments you like best and drinking to those.

The Hills are Alive…
OK, so tonight I got back from my trip to LA to see the Sing-a-Long Sound of Music. It was pretty cool—a lot of people dressed up in wacky outfits, everyone knew all the songs and all the little nuances of the film, and had fun—some people even brought some props! The cool part was that my mom and I sat two rows behind 3 of the child actors from the movie (who are obviously all grown up now) and near the director. I got two of the kids to sign the back of a card that came in the “fun pack” they give you to help film participation. The BEST part though was my quasi-star sighting. Who should I see bounding up the stairs with a giant red cooler than Colin Farrell, co-star with Tom Cruise in the film Minority Report (which, btw, is a pretty good film). The reason I was psyched about that is because even though I’ve lived my whole life in the LA area, I never managed to run into anyone famous. While he’s not a huge name yet, maybe that will change. It didn’t seem like he got recognized, since there weren’t people around him. I did almost literally run into him on the stairs coming back from the bathroom, but nothing was said. He looked totally different, with his shaved head and goatee that he is sporting for the filming of Daredevil, but since I saw him on The Daily Show sporting that look, I instantly recognized him. I might add that I think it’s cool, because he’s one of the few stars that is around my age that doesn’t play teenage roles—he’s born in 1976, AND he’s pretty cute. The Irish accent isn’t bad either.
Hmm besides that, nothing really happened during my weekend. Oh, except I almost got rear-ended like 5 times on the 101 coming home. Stupid drivers who follow too close at high speeds and then can’t slow down in time when traffic suddenly slows. I’ve never almost been hit so many times in my life! Luckily my car and I emerged unscathed.

It’s all about the Benjamins
Happy Pay Day!! Getting paid is always a good thing—it’s too bad it only happens once a month for me. My weekend was ok, nothing too exciting. Watched a few movies, which included But I’m a Cheerleader and L.A. Confidential. The weather was also pretty warm here in SB so I sat outside and read and did crossword puzzles. This managed to give me a somewhat strange tan, but it’s all good. Any sunlight is better than none, which is how much I get at work.
Speaking of work, today was very unproductive. It is the end of the fiscal year, so they had to run all the reports. This meant that they shut down the system so that no one could mess with the year-end figures. This also meant that I had to find a way to spend 8 hours at work. A combination of talking trash about some coworkers, playing MahJong Solitaire, chatting, emailing, and reading Stern, a German magazine that I enjoy (probably the German equivalent of People Magazine. Somehow the day ended, and tomorrow can’t go any slower.
4th of July is coming up, and I’m still not sure what my plans are. Since it’s on a Thursday this year, I’m thinking I might take Friday off. This would be good too, because it’ll give me a chance to run some errands I can only do during the day, like buy touch-up paint for the scratches on my car. Also speaking of this weekend, on Saturday night I am going to LA to the Hollywood Bowl to see the Sound of Music Sing-along (don’t laugh). It should be fun though. A bunch of people who love the movie singing along to it, and some even dressing as their favorite characters. My mom is way excited, and hopefully it’ll be fun. More about that after it happens.
