Happy Mother’s Day

I didn’t end up going home for Mother’s Day, so I sent my mom and grandma some flowers from 1-800-Flowers.com. Apparently my grandma liked them so much that they made her cry and she had to call my mom and tell her about them. I also sent my mom an identical bouquet, which she got yesterday.

On Friday I went to play poker with Vince and his friends, and lost money as usual—although it did take me the whole night to do so. Yesterday I washed my car for the first time since I got it and sat outside to get some sun, since it was so nice out. I did get a little sunburned washing my car, but nothing too serious. Later in the evening I went to see Ice Age at the $3.00 theater (formerly the $2.50 theater….bastards raised the prices!) I didn’t really like it that much—it had a lot of the same premise as Monster’s Inc., only it wasn’t as good. I found Sid the Sloth, one of the main characters, to be too annoying, and I didn’t really find any of the moments to be funny. Most of the theater laughed at parts, but I sat there pretty expressionless throughout most of the film—something that is very rare for me, since I like almost all movies.

Anyway, I just woke up, so I’m not sure what I have planned for today, but that’s about all I have to say for now. Only 4 more days ‘till Star Wars: Episode 2!

Party Hardy

Well the party was much better than I expected. I was worried that I might not have fun, because some of the people there probably aren’t my biggest fans. However, after a good deal of alcohol, the party was pretty fun. People I didn’t expect to talk to me were talking to me all night and making me drinks. Of course, this meant that when 1:30 am rolled around, and the party officially ended, that I was not sober enough to drive my car home. Luckily I got a ride from Christy and Jeremy, who live nearby. This morning I woke up feeling kind of icky, so I lay in bed until around noon.

Josh IMd me to ask if I would like to retrieve my car. After I showered, he picked me up, and I was able to drive my car home from the party. The funny thing is that I’m just going to be over there again in a few hours, for our weekly showing of 6 Feet Under. It’s a pretty good show, if you like dark humor. The family is totally messed up, and they are surrounded by death, but it has some funny moments, and is very well written. It is the only HBO show that I follow, since I have never seen any episodes of the other acclaimed shows like Sex and the City or The Sopranos.

Cars and Superheroes

2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T

To start off, I took some pictures of my new car, in case anyone hasn’t seen a Jetta before (not likely), or would like to see my particular one (slightly more likely, though also improbable).

Yesterday after work I saw Spider-Man at the 6:15 showing. It was pretty good. I was worried that the theater might get a bit hectic, with a combination of die-hard comic fans and little children scattered throughout. I think there were also a bunch of people like me—those who know what Spider-Man is, but do not follow it at all, and therefore cannot tell you the major story behind the movie. I guess I always thought of Spider-Man as someone older, but I have been informed that his age varies, and that for the most part he really was just a dorky teenager.

Tonight I am going to Josh’s “birthday party/Cinco de Mayo one day early” celebration. It is to be a BBQ, and from what I understand will have copious amounts of food and alcohol. Josh promises to stay up until 11pm, but we shall see! :) Hard to believe he is already a quarter of a century old. Time goes so fast, next thing you know I’LL be that old!!
