Another Happy 1st Time Car Buyer

After much planning and research, I finally got a brand-new car. I’ve been driving my sister’s 2000 Civic for the past year, but in two weeks she will be coming to reclaim it. My car previous to the Civic was a 1988 Ford Tempo, which has pretty much seen its last days. Today my parents came up to help me with my purchase. We ate lunch at Red Robin in Santa Barbara, and then made our way down to Ventura’s VW dealership to pickup my car. I purchased a 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T with automatic transmission (I can’t drive stick yet) in reflex silver with grey interior, monsoon sound, and luxury package—which means I have a sunroof. Even though I now own the car that every daddy’s girl sorority chick drives, I still think it is cute, and I like it better than my sister’s car. The most amusing part of getting the car is that they give you an instruction video on it, which I have yet to watch.

The process surprisingly took only two hours—I was expecting the paperwork to take much longer. After we drove back to SB, my mom had us stop at Coldstone’s for some ice cream. As usual, I got chocolate ice cream with peppermint patties. :) Anyway, for the moment I am very pleased with my first new car purchase.

That’s about all I have to say about that for now, as I do not wish to go overboard talking about all the cool things I like about my car. I like new things!

Falling and other Observations

Ow!! Ok, so today, not half an hour after I arrived at work, I fell down some stairs!! Luckily I was only 4 steps from the bottom, and only fell down 3 of them. I slid down on my ass, and managed to hit my right arm and right side of my butt on the edge of a step. I sat there for awhile so that I could collect myself and make sure I could walk. I then limped back to my desk and continued on as though nothing had happened—even though it hurt to sit. Thankfully nothing is broken, and I only scraped my arm, although I think I am going to be very sore in the morning.

Have you ever played The Sims? If you haven’t, then you don’t know what you’re missing. I had all the games before, but never really had time to play it, but with the release of the new Vacation Expansion Pack, I have taken it up again. It is really addicting, since you are always on the verge of something happening, but after 5 straight hours of playing, you still have very little to show for your work. So far though I have gotten one woman promoted three times, another man twice, and another man married—he quit his job so he could stay home and entertain guests and prepare the meals—ooooh look at the role reversal!!

Anyway I am so glad it is the weekend—even after almost 8 months, I am still not used to working full-time and getting up at 7am. It’s also hard to believe that i’ve been out of school for almost a year!

My First Post!

Welcome to the first REAL post of my blog. I had to work out a few problems, but I think this thing works ok now. Anyway, I am Icyshard (aka Jennifer), although you probably already know that if you are visiting this page. I will probably put an About Me page up in a little bit, when I get motivated.

So, tonight I went bowling with Kevin, Melany, Dan, and Jeff. We initially meant to start around 7pm, but as there was a league there, we could not begin until 9. We played some video games and watched Dan play DDR for awhile, but then finally decided to go somewhere else to kill time.

We decided on The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf down the street, where we ordered some drinks and talked about random amusing things as always. I drank too much hot chocolate and felt sick for awhile, but it didn’t last too long.

Once bowling, we pretty much all sucked. At any rate, it’s much cooler to go on Sunday nights, when they have Glow Bowling. Only two of us managed to break 100, and I was not one of them! Despite the lack of precision and skill, it was still fun, and it was nice to get out. I don’t get out nearly enough, nor do I hang out with my friends as much as I would like—I really need to work on that.

Anyway, I think this entry is quite long enough for today—and certainly for an initial post. Check back soon, and hopefully I will be updating this thing regularly.
